Review Summary
The Session is smart and uniquely designed to be an all-in-one extract vaporizer or what’s better known as a hybrid vape. This device can be used both as an eNail with existing Rigs or as a “standalone” wax vape. It features a neutral ceramic coil, three pre-set temperatures, and a simple straightforward user interface. The vapor produced ranges from mild to dense but is quite flavor-forward. Although, the best reason to buy the Session would most likely be its duality.

Background
The Session is a unique dual-function vaporizer that can be used as an electric nail with existing rigs or as a standalone wax vaporizer.
KandyPens (Visit Store) have been hard at work with some successful releases this year, including the Crystal 2 dab pen, which is currently our top-ranked pen of 2022, and the Oura portable dab rig. The Oura is a “self-contained” rig that includes the unit and the glass attachment to make a complete portable dab rig.
The Session is a unique dual-function vaporizer that can be used as an electric nail with existing rigs or as a standalone wax vaporizer. It also features a “session” setting that turns on automatic heating for a minute, which makes it an on-demand vaporizer.
Compatibility: The Session is compatible with wax, dab, or any other type of solid extracts. I've tested it with CBD extracts from Steve's Goods and with THC Extract from my local dispensary.
Design
The Session has a boxy shape with the coil being on top and the removable 14mm adapter at the bottom. The device's front has one activation button, 4 LEDs, a USB-C charging port, and the iconic KandyPens logo, which lights up when the vape is heating up or activated.
It uses a 1200mAh battery that can last 2-3 days from users. The external shell is made from Aluminum, which feels solid and well balanced.
The Session is ordinary and straightforward from the outside, but it features some creative design on the inside. If I remove the coil and the glass adapter, you can see that the airpath runs vertically inside the body.
This means that if you pull from the bottom, the air is coming in from the top. And if you pull from the top, air will come in through the bottom. This allows the Session to be used in two ways- as an eNail, or as a wax vaporizer.
- To use in eNail mode – Attach the glass adapter to the bottom and the magnetic carb cap on top. Now you can attach it to an existing rig and use it as an all-electric no combustion nail. The air is coming in through the top carb cap, passing through the Ceramic coil, and down to the rig.
- To use as a wax vaporizer – You can remove the glass adapter by just pulling it out and attach the magnetic glass mouthpiece on top. Now the air is coming in from the bottom, passing through the coil and into the glass mouthpiece, making the Session a fully functioning wax vaporizer.
To use the Session
- Load a tiny amount of extracts to the Ceramic coil. Use around 0.1 gram, which about the size of a grain of rice.
- Cover the coil with the carb cap or mouthpiece.
Interface:
The Session uses a straightforward interface with a five click unlock, and three clicks to cycle through voltage settings- Yellow is the lowest, then Green, Red, and Blue is the highest.
You can click and hold the button for manual heat activation or click twice to enter sesh mode, which will continuously activate the vape for 10 seconds.
Performance & Vapor quality
In terms of performance & vapor quality, the Session did great. It uses a Ceramic coil design that is ordinary but has been proven to work with many different vapes in the past.
It produces a lot of vapor, especially on the higher temps. I personally don't care much about “big clouds” as I know that you don't need big clouds to produce great vapor, but many users do like it, and they will not be disappointed by the Session. It defiantly produces big clouds.
Bottom Line
The Session is a simple vape that uses a smart design to make it an all-in-one extract vaporizer. While the vapor quality is good, it is probably not the main reason to buy this vape. The main reason will be its dual-function, specifically its ability to function as an eNail for existing dab rigs.
Portable dab rigs such as the Oura and the Boost Evo (Review) are great, but they don't work for everyone. Some users want to use an existing rig that they currently own and advance from a torch to an electric nail, which is precisely what the Session allows.
