Background
Lookah has been in business since 2009 – making high-quality, hand-blown glass pipes, accessories, and dab rigs. They’ve just entered the vaporizer manufacturing space, and have been releasing a variety of new devices successively – with all but 1 of their devices designed for the consumption of concentrates. Quickly becoming the go-brand for anyone looking for their first or supplementary, budget-friendly wax devices.
The Swordfish is Lookah’s first dab pen and it features a sleek, minimalist design, a straightforward single-button operation, a glass clamshell mouthpiece, 3 voltage levels, and a 950mAh battery that charges via USB-C. The porous Quartz coil features a 710 threaded connection – making it compatible with the brand’s many replacement coils.
Kit and Accessories
The Lookah Swordfish, like most of the brand’s devices; comes with a kit that’s rightfully stocked with everything that you need – including a few necessary spares and tools.
The Lookah Swordfish kit comes with:
- Lookah Swordfish Vaporizer
- (2) 710 Quartz Coils
- Dab Tool
- USB-C Charger
- User Manual

The Swordfish isn't feature-packed, it is a point-and-shoot vape that's easy to use and maintain.
Sleek Minimalist Design
Lookah’s pretty committed to naming their devices and inspiring their designs after sea creatures – as proven by the Lookah Seahorse Pro Plus (Review). The Lookah Swordfish’s design is definitely reminiscent of its namesake, with the cylindrical glass mouthpiece really driving that point home. The entire thing stands at 4.5 inches tall, making it concealable in your palm, and perfectly snug in a purse.
It’s a sleek, slim device with an ergonomic curve for a better grip. The single button is located up top, only slightly below the base of the mouthpiece. Personally, I find this placement quite a bit too high up, but it’s not nearly uncomfortable enough for me to consider it a con. Right by the button is two curved LED lights that indicate the current device status, battery level, and selected temperature.
Single Button Operation
The single button definitely makes this device one of the easiest and most intuitive ones out there. To turn on the Swordfish, press the power button 5 times fast and the device will automatically go into pre-heating mode. Once pre-heating is complete; press the button twice more to cycle through the pre-set temperatures:
- Green 3.5V
- Blue 3.7V
- White 3.9V
Clamshell Magnetic Mouthpiece
The clamshell mouthpiece makes loading the Swordfish so easy – I wish more devices adapted this design. All there is to do is open, load, and close – the hinge and the magnets ensure that the mouthpiece and the device body are perfectly aligned and sealed. A subtle brand signature is the use of a cylindrical glass mouthpiece – an homage to Lookah’s hand-blown glass pieces. Glass is a neutral material that allows you to taste only the purest and flavorful vapor.
Built-In Dab Tool
At the bottom of the device is a small dab tool built right in. Making it pretty easy to handle your dabs and keep stickiness to a minimum. I highly recommend giving the dab tool a quick clean before putting it back in the device – just to keep build-up from forming at the end of the slot.
If you’re wondering how much dab to use, it’s best to start with an amount that’s no bigger than a grain of rice. Too much dab and you’ll find yourself with wasted material and a sticky coil.
950mAh Battery & USB- C Charging
The Lookah Swordfish is powered by a 950mAh battery which is actually on the high side for a wax pen. The battery is good for about 12-15 sessions, depending on which temperature settings you use and takes roughly an hour to charge from 0, via the very stable USB-C.
It’s always great to see devices at all price ranges adapting to USB-C, especially since micro-USB, while okay for a while, eventually becomes slow and unstable. To conserve power, the Swordfish features a 5-minute auto-shutoff.
Quartz Coils and 710 Connection
The Lookah Swordfish’s kit comes with two Quartz Coils that produce excellent, flavor-forward vapor – especially on the lowest setting. In the middle setting, you get thicker, heavier vapor that’s only slightly less flavorful and never as hot as one would expect. I find that using the Swordfish above the bottom two settings just results in vapor that’s simply too dense and only tastes burnt.
The Lookah Swordfish has porous quartz coils with a 710 connection. This connection makes it possible to swap the current coil for any of Lookah’s replacements which while all made of the same material – have different designs and produce varied results.
Bottom line
The Lookah Swordfish takes me back to the basics of dabbing. It’s a no bells and whistles, easy to use device that’s great as a daily driver or a spare. It produces flavorful vapor that can be either dense or light, depending on which of the two settings you use.
At $69, I’d definitely say it’s worth its price, but I would also highly recommend checking out slimmer, pen-style options before making a call. For more in-depth reviews, check out our list of the best wax pens of 2024.
