Background
The Ruby Twist Pro, is arguably the best “bang-for-the-buck” when it comes to ball vapes. In this review, I’ll go over its design, performance, and overall value. If you’re totally new to ball vapes, I have a separate article that explains everything you need to know, and an updated list with my top picks in 2026.

The Ruby Twist Pro retails for $230, but VGEAR.COM has a sale for $199 and you can use my coupon code VG10 for an extra 10% off and a final price of $179. Unbeatable value.
Design
It has three main components- the heating wand, the PID controller, and the bowl. Let’s talk about each of these separately.

The Heating Wand
The heating wand features a titanium chamber filled with 155 2.5mm ruby balls and a spiral heating coil protected by a stainless steel guard and a new wooden handle.

A defining feature of the “Pro” model is that it officially embraces community modifications. While the original Ruby Twist was often “hacked” by users to remove the internal twist core, the Pro kit is designed to support this configuration out of the box. The kit includes specific permanent metal screens for the heater head and extra rubies to fill the space if you choose to “untwist” it,. Removing the twist core opens up the airflow and changes the thermodynamics for a more “airy experience”

Around the chamber, there is a spiral heating coil. This coil gets super hot and heats up the chamber with the rubies by conduction- meaning direct contact.

Then there is a stainless steel heat guard around the heating element, for safety reasons.
The new Pro version also has an upgraded wooden handle for the wand which is much better than the one in the older version.
The PID Controller
All electronics are housed in the external PID controller box, which connects to the wand via a 5-pin XLR cable. The digital PID utilizes “slow pulse” technology, which manages power delivery to create a heating cycle that is closer to an analog delivery rather than the aggressive on/off cycling of older PIDs,. This smoother power delivery results in a smoother rip.

Micro Matrix Bowl
The Micro Matrix Bowl is cleverly designed and constructed from durable grade 2 titanium. Its thin walls allow for rapid heating, enabling users to achieve an “exact hybrid experience” by precisely controlling the heater soak time before inhalation. The bowl offers versatile capacity through its adjustable screen positions: a micro screen can be placed at the top for a micro-dose, or removed and placed at the bottom for the full-size capacity, which is a maximum of about 0.2g, though it operates efficiently with less. The kit comes complete with a default 44mm joint and an 18mm joint adapter.

Chuggah Bubbler
The only thing needed that is not included- is a glass bubbler. I recommend this Chugga 2.0- it has a large base so it won’t tip over, and it keeps the hot elements away from your face during use.
The Chuggah is available from VGEAR and they even sell it as a discounted bundle with the Ruby Twist.

The complete setup looks like this- bubbler, bowl, and the wand which is connected to the PID.
How do ball vapes work?
With each inhale, cool air flows in from the top, weaving through the densely packed ruby balls, which have a high surface area for rapid heat transfer. This creates a powerful jet of super-hot air that passes through the bowl. The intense heat extracts the herb’s active compounds, turning them into vapor that travels through the mouthpiece—delivering thick, satisfying hits with a unique punch.

Usage
To use the Ruby Twist, I’ll set my temp to 600°F in this case, and the Wand starts heating up. Meanwhile, I’ll load the bowl with the stainless steel spoon.

Once the Wand is up to temp, I can place it on the bowl and start inhaling. But I like letting it “heat soak” for another minute or two after it reaches temp- this lets heat build up in the system as it transfers via conduction from the Wand into the chamber with the rubies. This will improve performance substantially.
Performance
Talking about performance- the Ruby Twist is a beast. The vapor is super dense, pure, and flavorful, and while I find 600°F to be the sweet spot- sometimes I go lower and extract some amazing flavors over a session, and sometimes I bump it up for a “one hit” extraction. The vapor is dense, hard-hitting, and terpene-rich.

Now look, ball vapes can get super expensive, take this Universal Baller here- it retails for $500. So the fact that the Ruby Twist, at around $200, can compete with these heavy hitters head-to-head is remarkable. It punches way above its weight class.
Clean Airpath
A big part of the reason many people (myself included) use vaporizers instead of combustion is for the potential health benefits. And the last thing I want is a contaminated air-path, meaning any low-grade plastics, glues, silicone, etc. Ball-vapes keep it super simple, but more importantly- super clean. The air passes through the ruby balls which are in a titanium chamber, then the titanium or glass bowl, and then to the bubbler which is typically glass. Clean and simple.
Ruby Twist PRO VS. WOHW V2
This is the Wireless One Hit Wonder (aka WOHW V2), which is made by the same company, is slightly more expensive, and I'm working on a full-length comparison between the two, but here is the quick rundown for those contemplating.

The biggest difference to keep in mind is that the Ruby Twist has the heating element installed on the Wand, while the WOHW has a “heating station” where the Wand is placed to heat up, and then it is placed on the bowl. The Ruby Twist is tethered to the PID box and has a constant supply of power to keep the heat engaged, while the WOHW is, well, wireless. So heat will slowly decay and fade. For one-hit extractions, this is a non-issue. But for those looking for a 2-4 hit session, it may not be as efficient. The Ruby Twist is more versatile and is the winner in my opinion.
Drawbacks
As far as drawbacks, it’s mostly the obvious stuff- the size and lack of portability, a learning curve, as well as complexity. This whole setup can basically be replaced with the Venty for example. and still get the job done for most people.

Plus- glass is fragile, and exposed hot parts are never a good thing. But these are cons that are associated with all ball vapes. They require a sort of “gear station” or a dedicated area. Like- I wouldn’t use this bedside or outside. Pretty much strictly in my home office.
Bottom line
So bottom line- for anyone looking to get into ball vapes, the Ruby Twist is probably the best option out there. I was looking everywhere on Reddit and online forums for someone that doesn’t like their Ruby Twist or has issues with it, and I couldn’t find any. Everyone loves it. Reddit users can’t get enough of it. In fact, I read a lot of reports of people whose vape collections started collecting dust after they got a Ruby Twist. And I couldn’t agree more. The Ruby Twist, together with the Chugga 2.0 Bubbler, is my go-to setup for when sitting in my home office and I couldn’t recommend it more.
