Background

When you’re only filling your dry herb vaporizer with well-ground herb, you not only help your device perform at its best, you also end up wasting less herb since there aren’t any unvaporized leftovers. While grinders can be made of several different materials and can cost anywhere from $0 to almost similar to a dry herb vape’s price. A good, reliable grinder that results in herb that’s ground to a fluffy, even consistency definitely makes a world of a difference.

The Kozo Grinder (buy on Amazon) is out to prove that a grinder doesn’t have to be expensive to deliver. At only $20, it carries a few of the same features as other premium grinders. It’s made with a heavy-duty aluminum alloy and has a non-stick grinding chamber that is secured by strong magnets to ensure a perfect seal and easy turning action.

Availability: Kozo Herb Grinders are available on Amazon, in two sizes: A 2.5inch, 4pc model and a 4inch, 4pc model. Priced at $20 and $35, respectively.

Design and Build Quality

Kozo Herb Grinder Grip Indentations

The Kozo Grinder’s look is punctuated by the uniquely indented finger holds that run vertically from the top to the bottom of the grinder. Giving any user an enhanced grip and a better hold so you can twist the lid with ease. In contrast to other grinders like the Aerospaced the indents definitely make the Kozo easier to use.

With all its 4 pieces attached, the Kozo 2.5” in diameter and 1.5” tall, it’s definitely portable and seems designed to be the grinder you take around daily. It also feels incredibly balanced in your hand and the collection chamber and screen are deeper than usual, which some user reviews claim to make it more balanced and less prone to spilling over. This depth in the collection chamber makes it easy to scoop up your herb and pre-grind (and even store) a good amount of herb to take for the day. This chamber is then sealed with a strong magnetic connection, ensuring nothing ever falls out.

Performance and Ease of Use

Kozo Herb Grinder Chamber and Lid

Inside the non-stick grinding chamber are trapezoidal teeth with sharp edges made to break up your material. The Kozo grinds material to a consistency that works well with most vaporizers but isn’t quite at par with the fine, powdery consistency that you get with more premium grinders. Since the round holes in the grinding chamber are larger than usual, there were a few larger pieces that fell through onto the catcher.

Kozo Herb Grinder Collection Chamber

While this type of grind still gives you good-flavored vapor, finely ground herb is still best. Grinding with trapezoidal teeth also requires a bit more force than grinding with diamond-shaped teeth, but this is augmented by the increased grip around the device.

The non-stick coating is usually a more premium feature that’s on more expensive grinders, so having it on the Kozo, at such a low price point is a definite plus. If ever you have to clean it at all, the Kozo is easy to clean with ISO alcohol.

Bottom Line

Kozo Weed Grinder

With features that are usually seen only in more premium options- such as a non-stick grinding chamber and a larger collection screen. The Kozo checks all the boxes for what you need in a grinder. However, the resulting grind isn’t as consistent when compared to other grinders such as the SLX (review).

All this said – if you’re looking for a grinder that won’t set you back by $$$, the Kozo does deliver on its promise and is worth checking out. If you already have a reliable grinder on hand, the Kozo is then a good and very inexpensive, portable backup and companion to any dry herb vaporizer
