Design
An interesting design choice for the Hex Vaporizer is the 24ct gold chamber that provides thorough rapid heating powered by their hybrid heating system. Their hybrid heating system works as a fusion of convection and conduction which isn't something you see often.
A second delightful design choice was the Magstick Multi-Use Tool which attaches magnetically at the base for ease of accessibility and use.
It works well with the flower, and as it goes, I haven’t needed it for extract. But if need be you could use it to scoop your extract into the dosing capsule. Just be ready with some isopropyl alcohol to clean it before putting it away so you don’t get the bottom sticky.
Key Features
Some key features to utilize on the vaporizer are the session timer, Magstick multi-use tool, Adjustable airflow, and the dosing capsule system.
The session timer has 3-minute, 6-minute, and 9-minute settings and the device turns itself off afterward to prevent the device from overheating.
The Magstick multi-use tool is helpful when cleaning out the gold chamber of the flower, as well as packing the herb into the dosing capsule.
The adjustable airflow definitely makes a difference in how you get your herb or extract heated, and I prefer the half-open and just barely-open seems to give the best vapor and taste results. However, I recommend trying the different levels of airflow and temperatures.
Lastly, the dosing capsules are where you put your herb and extract before putting it into the gold 24ct chamber. The dosing capsules basically help keep your vaporizer clean longer, it also helps heat your contents thoroughly.
Usage
- To start with your device, detach the cooling unit and either pack some herb into the dosing capsule or drop some extract into the wax dosing capsule and reattach the cooling unit.
- Once the insides have been taken care of, go ahead and click the power button 5x to turn on your vaporizer.
- Once the Hex is on, it will start to heat up quickly so if you plan on changing the temperature press the up or down buttons and change to your desired temperature.
You'll see on the OLED screen the timer countdown, the current temperature of the device, the desired temperature goal and you can even flip the direction of the screen by holding the power button down for 5 seconds.
Otherwise, packing the dosing capsule two-thirds seems to be the best amount in order to get the best and thorough vaporization through your herb. It lasted about 3 rounds of the 3-minute timer at about 400F. It’s recommended not to overfill the dosing capsules in order to get a thorough vaporization.
When trying out the extract, I was a bit worried about it getting stuck on the inside of the gold chamber, but surprisingly, the hex vaporized a lot of the extract. Although it did leave a thin layer of resin on the gold chamber and even less on the dosing capsule I would say it did very well for a hybrid vaporizer.
Compared to a vaporizer meant for extracts solely, it stood up decently. The timer options that the Nectar Hex offers are longer and have more options than most dab pens give.
Tips
Before using your Nectar Hex Vaporizer, you can sterilize it by turning the device on and setting it to the highest temperature. Detach the cooling unit and let it run at the lowest timer setting of 3 minutes with an empty chamber for it to sterilize properly.
Once the 3 minutes are up and the device has cooled down enough to handle, attach the cooling unit and run the 3-minute timer again, and then you’re done sterilizing the device.
It’s recommended in the manual to do a light cleaning once every 5 sessions, and that includes letting the device cool down before detaching the cooling unit and cleaning the gold chamber with the brush included.
After brushing, continue with the mouthpiece and start by detaching it from the cooling unit and scrub the inside using isopropyl alcohol and your brush.
Lastly, soak a cotton swab and just scrub the chamber sides and bottom with a circular motion until you think it looks good, and then just let it dry.
And for a deep clean, take apart the cooling unit and remove the resin trap inside. Just be careful not to let the rubber soak too long in isopropyl otherwise the rubber will deform.
Overall
Overall the Nectar Hex Vaporizer provides an easy experience for a hybrid vaporizer. It handles both extract and herb in dosing capsules and heats thoroughly with its hybrid heating system. I would easily recommend this vaporizer to anyone new or experienced with vapes because it's easy to use and the battery lasts a full hour before needing a recharge.
