Xmax Riggo Video Review
Background
The XMAX Riggo is a pretty cool 2-in-1 concentrate vaporizer. It can be used as an enail with an existing rig, or it can be used as a dry pipe with the included silicone housing.
The Riggo retails for around $100 (visit store), and you can use the coupon codes above to save up to 20%. Or check out my coupon code page for codes to almost all online stores.
Design & Features
The Riggo features a simple but clever design. The housing is made of Aluminum, and it is small and light. It has one activation button and a USB-C charging port.
The coil sits on top of the unit and is covered with the glass carb cap. It is a medium-sized quartz coil with a center stone. This round stone acts like a sponge, which soaks and vaporizes the concentrate.
Dual use
As I mentioned, the Riggo can be used in one of two ways- as an eNail or a dry pipe.
To use it is an eNail, connect the included 14mm adapter to the bottom, and that will allow you to use it with your existing Rig or bubbler. This setup will replace the traditional nail and torch setup.
To use as a dry pipe, place it in the included silicone pipe mold and press it down. One thing I noticed while using it as a pipe is that the seal between the unit and the silicone pipe is not air-tight. This didn't seem to cause an issue while using it. The vapor still came through thick and strong. But still, the Puffco Proxy (review), for example, has a much tighter seal.
Riggo VS. Proxy
And talking about the Proxy, it's hard not to see the resemblance here. A modular unit that has an independent heating element that can be used as a dry pipe or connected to water filters.
The differences are:
The Proxy has a body made of glass, an advanced 3D chamber, and better flavor and vapor quality.
But the Proxy doesn't connect to traditional rigs right out of the box, and it costs three times as much. The Riggo is also smaller, more portable, and more discreet than the Proxy.
To use the Riggo
- Five clicks to unlock. Three clicks to select a temp out of the five presets.
- The lowest is White, which is 500°F
- The highest is Red, with 716°F.
- I'll set mine up on Green, which is 554°F
- Then I press the button once for manual mode or click twice to start a session.
The heat-up time is around 15 seconds, and since the device doesn't vibrate, you'd have to look at the LED to know when it is ready to vape. It's somewhat of an inconvenience since the LED is on the side. There should have probably been a small light indicator on top as well. That would have made for a slightly better user experience.
If you're using it as an eNail and would like to turn off the bottom light, click it four times.
Performance & Vapor Quality
The vapor quality is very good, considering the fact that this is an entry-level vaporizer. XMAX claims that it has “real-time” temp control that seems to work pretty well and delivers good-tasting vapor. I suggest using low temps to get the best flavor possible.
Bottom Line
The Riggo provides great value for the price. The vapor quality is great when compared to similarly priced vapes, and there is something very satisfying about using it. I think the transition from pipe to water filter is the easiest I've seen. Very clever design and execution.
At $100 (well less, if you use the coupon codes above), the Riggo makes the perfect beginner concentrate vaporizer. If you're an advanced user looking for something more robust, here are my favorite eRigs or Vape Pens of 2024.
