Background
The Ccell Fino is a 510 battery that stands out from the crowd due to two main features- it's premium “fashion forward” design and a tiny detachable battery that works independently of the Dock. Kind of.
In this Ccell Fino review, I will go over the design and features of this battery, and I'll test it with some Blue River live Rosin carts.
It retails for $48, and coupon code TVG10 will save you 10% at vape-smart.com.
Look & feel
The Fino has a distinctive design. It is wrapped in a leather case that attaches to the unit magnetically. Feels like a phone case or one of these magnetic iPad cases. It is completely removable, so you can use the unit without it, but it will surely attract more attention. The case makes it look like a small wallet or something that wouldn't get second looks when carried out and about.
The leather case has a “half-open” position, which reveals the interface and the small detachable battery. The interface has LEDs that show you the battery level of the Dock, the battery level of the “Mini” detachable battery, and the current voltage level. The LEDs are also visible when the leather case is closed through a small gap between the edges of the case.
Detachable Dock- magnetic five charges
The second defining feature of the Fino is its detachable mini battery. The main battery (aka the Dock) is used as a 1000mAh power dock that can charge the Mini, which has a separate 190mAh battery. The Mini can be pulled out and used independently, and it can get more than five full charges from the Dock.
The Mini battery is really tiny. It is pretty much the width of my finger and really one of the smallest I've seen. You still need the Dock in order to change the voltage settings or charge the Mini (as it doesn't have a separate USB-C port), but I'm sure many users will appreciate this modular design.
How to use
- Screw one of the two included 510 adapter to your cart.
- Slide the cart into the device
- Select the voltage level from the eight available options between 2.2v and 3.6v.
- Then, you can start inhaling. Since the Fino is draw-activated, there are no buttons to press. Just inhale, and vapor will come through after a couple of inhales (depending on your voltage level.)
- You may pull the Mini out at any time to use separately, just keep in mind that a) you must place it in the Dock in order to change the voltage settings, and b) you can not charge it without the Dock as it doesn't have a USB plug. The Mini can only be charged from the Dock itself.
The Fino also has a preheat option that will warm up the vape for ten seconds before use, and it can also be used to clear clogs in the cart. To activate preheat mode, just tap the small “Flame” icon on the interface.
What could have been better?
The Fino is easily one of the best 510 batteries of this year, but here are a couple of things that could have been better:
- Eliminate the use of adapters. I can't even count how many 510 batteries I had, and I lost the small 510 adapter at some point, making them worthless. I prefer to screw my cart in and eliminate the use of adapters, like the Ooze Duplex 2, for example, which executes that beautifully.
- The Fino is draw-activated, which is super convenient, but I also like having the option for manual activation, like a button that I can physically press if I want to.
Performance
The Ccell Fino provided amazing flavor from my live rosin carts, and I did not feel any burnt hits or overheated oil. The flavor was very good, although I've only seen major vapor production from the fourth setting upwards. It has eight different levels, so you can customize the level to the one that works perfectly.
Bottom Line
The Ccel Fino innovates in an industry that has been coping and posting itself. It seems as if there are very few “new designs” that are coming out, and the Fino is one of these that stands out.
“Terp snobs” turned their backs on carts with a claim that it is not “as pure” as consuming other types of extracts, and that used to be true. But modern extraction methods are changing this rapidly. The Live Rosin I used here is made without any solvents or additives. It has been made by mechanically pressing the raw plant to extract its oils and terpenes. And I think that devices like the Fino, the ARTIQ, or even the Duplex 2 cater to these new “higher-end” users who need their vape to be a gadget.
Overall, the Fino is a good-looking and functional battery. I recommend it for beginners or advanced users alike. If you're looking for other options, check out my top 510 batteries of 2024, which also includes coupon codes for all the products I mentioned in this review.
