Design & Features
The Deezy by Kind Pen (Visit Store) is a portable dry herb vape that has a sleek and compact design. It fits in the palm of my hand and the exterior feels smooth and durable. There's a LED Display on top of the device that displays the battery life and temperature settings. It features a power button and temperature dial that's located in the middle of the device.
It's pretty easy to use but one thing that I noticed is that the buttons are awkwardly placed in the middle which makes it hard to see the LED Display. It could have been better if the buttons are on the side of the device like most standard dry herb vapes.
Mouthpiece
The Deezy features a glass mouthpiece that's screwed on top of the heating chamber. This is a good feature since most entry-level vapes use plastic mouthpieces that get hot after extended use. The glass mouthpiece keeps the vapor cool as well as it doesn't affect the purity and flavor of the vapor. It also has a magnetic metal cover so it wouldn't break if you accidentally drop the device.
Heating Oven
The heating chamber can hold up to 0.3g of herbs and heats up in just under a minute. It has lots of inlet holes for good airflow and it's isolated away from any battery or electronics. It means that the vapor it produces is as pure and clean as it can be. Keep in mind that if you pack the oven too much, the airflow will be tightened and it'll be hard to inhale the vapor.
How To Use
Before you start your session, make sure you use a quality grinder such as SLX Grinder (Review) to increase the herbs’ surface area to allow even extraction. To use the Deezy you need to:
- Unscrew the mouthpiece.
- Load the herbs and replace the mouthpiece.
- Turn on the device by pressing the power button five times.
- Use the up and down button to select the temperature.
- Once the device vibrates, inhale from the mouthpiece.
Temperature Setting: You can precisely set the temperature from 302-437°F in single-degree increments.
Haptic Feedback: The device vibrates when finished heating up.
Performance & Vapor Quality
The Deezy heats at around 30-45 seconds which is pretty standard for most inexpensive dry herb vapes. I got 5-7 good hits before my herb was cashed which means the herbs are extracted efficiently after my session. It does get warm and can be uncomfortable to use which is pretty forgivable since it's a small dry herb vape and there's no way the heat could dissipate properly.
As for the vapor quality, it's pretty decent for an entry-level vape- the vapor is tasty & cool though it could get harsh on a higher temperature setting. I usually put 0.2g of herbs so that I can inhale the vapor easily since it's not tightly packed. I vape between 370-390°F so that I could get more flavor in my vapor. Keep in mind that any higher than 410°F, the vapor will be dense and harsh that can irritate your throat.
Battery Performance: The Deezy has an 1100 mAh battery that can last up to 5-7 sessions which is pretty good since it can survive a day of casual vaping. It has a micro-USB port for charging which means it charges much slower than vapes with a USB-C port. They also offer a lifetime warranty for the device if the battery malfunctions.
Bottom Line
The Deezy is a sleek and compact dry herb vape that produces good quality vapor for a $100 vape. It's ridiculously easy to use and features a decent bowl size, average battery life, and precise temp control. It's not the most powerful vape that I've tested but it works fine and performs well as an entry-level vape.
I recommend this for beginners who are looking for an inexpensive way to start vaping dry herbs. However, I think you'll grow out of it soon and will look for a better and bigger vape that can provide a more satisfying experience. If so, you can look into the Arizer Solo 2 (Review) or the Utillian 722 (Review). Nevertheless, it's a good ‘first-vape' or a travel vape that won’t cost you an arm or a leg.
