Overview

The Ooze Duplex 2 is a dual-use vape that is compatible with 510 carts as well as dabs. It retails for $55, and you can use coupon code TVG10 to save 10% with vape-smart.com.

Anatomy

To understand the function of this vape, it helps to first strip it down from its attachments:

  • The mouthpiece goes off with a quarter turn.
  • The magnetic side cover can be removed to expose the LED indicators and the power button.
  • And the bottom is a magnetic cover that pulls out. It has two 510 threads. One is at the top part that sits inside the body, and one is at the bottom and is covered with a silicone plug.

For now, I'll reconnect my mouthpiece but keep the cover off the interface.

Triple usage

As I mentioned, this vape can be used with 510 carts or as a concentrate vaporizer. Let's go over each of the modes.

To use as a 510 battery

I'll screw my cart into the 510 thread and insert it into the device. It completely conceals the cartridge inside the body, so it can be used discreetly without any indication of what's inside.

To use it with dabs

There are two optional attachments included in the kit.

  • The first one is a bucket-shaped coil that connects to the 510 thread. I'll load some concentrate right in the center of the coil, and then attach it at the bottom.
  • The second concentrate attachment connects to the 510 thread that's pointing downwards. This attachment allows the use of the Duplex as a dab straw. The tip heats up and can be dipped directly into the wax container to vaporize the extracts. Just note that you can only use one attachment at a time, and you'll have to remove the bowl if using it as a dab straw.

So yes, there are three ways to use it, making this device a very capable and flexible concentrate vaporizer.

How to use

Once I set the proper attachment, I can turn the vape on by clicking five times. Then, three clicks will toggle the four preset voltage levels, green being the lowest and red being the highest. The magnetic cover is optional, and the button is clickable through the cover.

Now, as far as activation, I have three options:

  • The Duplex is draw-activated, so I can simply start inhaling without pressing any button, and the vape will activate heat. I found this method to work great with 510 carts but less so with dabs.
  • With dabs, it can be activated manually by holding down the button, or I can double-click to start a ten-second session. I suggest using manual mode when using it as a nectar straw and session mode when using it with the atomizer as a dab pen.

Performance

Do-it-all or “Swiss army” vapes are not a new concept, and many companies have attempted to pull this off in the past. The problem was that most of these vapes were good at one thing, their primary function, but sucked when it came to the “added functionality.”

The Ooze Duplex manages to succeed where others have failed, and it can easily be used as a primary vape for both 510 carts or dabs.

When using it as a 510 battery:

  • The 900Mah battery is long-lasting and supplies plenty of power.
  • I love how the cart is concealed in the body of the vape. With the cover, it is stealthy and modern-looking.
  • I can adjust the airflow by covering the bottom hole in the silicone cover with my finger, or using it as a carb cap and removing my finger to empty the unit from vapor.

As a dab vape:

  • Both ceramic coils provided very good vapor quality. Ooze uses these blue ceramic coils that they call C-Core, and they produce thick, tasty vapor.
  • I also love how it stands up firmly as opposed to a dab pen, which is slimmer and less stable. You want to try to keep your dab vapes upright, especially when the coil is hot, and the dabs are in a liquid state. Tilting them can easily make the extract leak out and make a mess. So it's easier to keep this one upright, which I appreciate.

Bottom Line

But the thing that surprised me the most about the vape is its price. It retails for $55, which is a value that's very hard to beat. For example, take the DaVinci ARTIQ 510 battery, which retails for $59. and compare the two-

  • Both fully conceal the cart, but the Duplex has a stronger 900mAh battery vs. DaVinci 760mAh.
  • The DaVinci is only draw-activated vs. the more flexible Duplex.
  • DaVinci has three temp levels, vs. four with the Ooze.

So you get the point. The Duplex 2 is better in every way than the more expensive ARTIQ. And that's before I even mentioned method wax compatibility with two different methods! The Duplex 2 is easily one of the top 510 batteries of [year]

I think Ooze could have easily priced this at $80-90. At $55, this value is really hard to beat. And again, use my coupon code above to save 10%.
