Background
XVape (visit homepage) has made great strides in the vaporizer space since they were first founded in Southern California nearly a decade back. Alongside their other sub-brand, XMAX – they’ve released dry herb vaporizers Aria (review) and Starry V3 (review), the Vista mini e-nail (review), and the QOMO dab rig (review).
Safe to say they’ve got a good variety of reliable, well-made, and reasonably priced devices. But their latest release under the sub-brand XLUX is their first device that ventures into the entry-level luxury category.
The XLUX Roffu (buy) is priced at $180 and is a minimalist, pure convection, dry herb vaporizer which notably features a full-color OLED display, a removable battery, a 2-piece mouthpiece assembly, and an exposed and interchangeable heating chamber.

Kit and Accessories
The XLUX Roffu has a pretty extensive kit with all the necessary tools for you to start vaping right out of its sturdy box – without needing anything otherwise.
The XLUX Roffu kit contains:
- XLUX Roffu device
- Small metal grinder
- Quartz chamber
- Stainless steel chamber
- 18650 Battery & USB-C cable
- Loading Funnel
- Carrying Pouch
- Loading / Stir Tool
- Screens, O-rings, & Cleaning Wipes
Included Herb Funnel
Other than the interchangeable heating chambers, the next most interesting part of Roffu’s kit is the funnel. While loading the already exposed heating chamber is already easy enough – the addition of a funnel just makes the process so seamless and mess-free. Definitely wish more devices (from XMAX and all other brands) included a funnel in their kits – especially since it’s a relatively inexpensive yet such a necessary part of any vaporizer’s kit.
Aluminum body w/ a Box-Style Design
The Roffu’s design can be easily described as sleek, minimal, and uncomplicated. In fact, it very closely resembles the famous Pax – but is a lot less flashy. It’s got a great dense hand feel, and there’s definitely some heft to it.
Device Body: The entire device is constructed out of anodized aluminum with a matte finish (and is available in several colorways). It’s a columnar device topped by the removable mouthpiece assembly, with the larger than usual display upfront, the firing and temperature buttons on the spine – on top of the USB-C charging port.
Like the Pax, the Roffu’s design is discreet and barely gives a clue regarding it’s real use. Making it a great choice for when you opt to take/ use your vaporizer while you’re outdoors. Measuring less than 4 inches tall, it’ll surely fit clasped in your palm and in any pocket or purse.
Full-Color OLED Display
Colored OLED displays are a new feature we’re seeing in many current releases- and it’s great to see XVape getting in on the trend. The Roffu’s display takes up a majority of the front of the device, providing ample space to see all the necessary information at a glance.
The display shows the current device temperature, battery level, session timer, and whether you’re on-demand or in session mode. Although, I had hoped that there was an option to control the screen’s brightness for further discretion – thankfully it isn’t distractingly bright on the default setting.
3-Piece Mouthpiece Assembly
Another feature seen on devices released lately is multi-part mouthpieces. Brands and device engineers are definitely trying to make vapor the coolest it can possibly be, by extending the vapor path within a compact space. This is clearly inspired by S&B’s groundbreaking Cooling Unit – found on their portables: the Mighty+ (review| buy) and the Crafty+ (review| buy).
The XLUX Roffu’s mouthpiece is made of three parts:
- Raised Outer Mouthpiece: This is the piece that directly touches your lips. Since it’s made out of zirconia – a strong material with low thermal conductivity – this piece is never uncomfortably warm even on the higher settings and isn’t fragile.
- Zirconia Helix: The helix is designed to effectively lengthen the vapor path, ensuring that you get only the coolest and purest results.
- Magnetic Aluminum Housing: This houses the 2 other parts and closes over the exposed oven. It securely attaches to the main device with strong magnets – lowering the possibility of any accidental spills.
High-Capacity Removable Battery
The XLUX Roffu is powered by a removable 2600mAh battery, which is good for 10-12 sessions and charges in roughly 90 minutes from 0. It charges via USB-C, the current most stable charger type available. Although, since it is removable, you won’t have to be without your Roffu for long – since you can opt to get a spare + a charger, allowing you to swap out a dead battery for a fresh one.
Of Roffu’s two use modes- the on-demand mode definitely consumes and drains power quicker. It’s probably due to the required quick heating and powering down between draws, But even then, the Roffu has enough under its belt for all-day use.
Convection Heating and Dual Usage Modes
The XLUX Roffu is a pure convection vaporizer – meaning the herb is heated via hot air that’s produced externally, which then travels in and around the dry herb. Effectively vaporizing it and producing more flavorful and nuanced results. The Roffu is both an on-demand and session vaporizer – meaning the oven can heat up just as quickly as it cools down.
On-Demand heating means that you can simply take a hit whenever you want, instead of vaping all of the material in a single session. Session mode means the Roffu will hold your selected temperature for as long as the session timer is running – which is either 6 or 3 minutes.
Exposed and Interchangeable Heating Chamber
The XLUX Roffu’s exposed heating chamber makes it incredibly easy to load, especially with the included funnel. Though it is the fact that it’s interchangeable that definitely stands out to me. The Roffu’s kit comes with a Quartz and Stainless heating chamber. The center of both heating chambers has a screen for the hot air to travel through, and both hold roughly 0.2g of well-ground dry herb.
Vapor Quality: Between the two heating chambers, I definitely find that the Quartz Chamber lends itself better to convection heating and results in lighter yet more flavorful vapor. It is also the better choice when using the Roffu in on-demand mode. The Stainless Steel chamber is best for when you’re looking for dense, thick vapor – but be prepared for a bit of heat and a slight dulling in flavor.
Bottom Line
The XLUX Roffu is a well-designed, well-performing device that I would recommend to anyone – but most especially those who are new to vaping or those who are more particular with flavor as opposed to vapor density. XMAX is definitely a brand dedicated to value and the Roffu embodies that. It has a great price to performance ratio, alongside an extensive kit.
