Review Summary
The Vane is a simple and small vaporizer that’s suitable for discreet vaping. It has precise temp control and the vapor it produces is good but the flavor is nowhere near to high-end vapes. If you’re looking for an entry-level vape, the Vane is one of the few options to start vaping herbs. However, if you’re an experienced user that is looking for a vaporizer with greater longevity and better vapor production, the Vane is not for you.

Background
Earlier this Year, Yocan (visit here) released the Yocan Hit (Review) which is a beginner-friendly dry herb vape that performs well for its price. And now, they added a new vaporizer in their product line which is the Vane.
The Vane and the Hit are quite similar to each other. Aside from falling in the same price range, the Vane features precise temp control and haptic feedback which are the key features that make it appealing to some vapers. It’s a portable and easy-to-use vape that produces vapor suited for first-time users.
Design & Features
The Yocan Vane has a rectangular-shaped body that's made out of aluminum with a metallic coating. It's an average-looking vape with a small and compact build that's similar to the G-Pen Dash (Review) or the Atomic-9 (Review). It's 3.1″ tall and 1.1″ wide which makes it a viable device for on-the-go use and discreet vaping.
The Vane is packed with 1100 mAh battery and the USB-C port is located at the bottom of the device. The OLED screen is located in the middle of the device that displays the temperature and battery level. It is an easy-to-use dry herb vape that has a square power button coupled with two smaller buttons to control the temperature.
Most inexpensive vapes, like the two I've mentioned above, have preset temperatures but the Vane has precise temperature control. It's a useful feature since you have the freedom to tune the temp settings to your liking (whether for a slow and mild session or a quick solid session). You can set the temperature in single-degree increments from 200°F to 480°F.
Mouthpiece
The mouthpiece is made out of plastic which is common for dry herb vapes. It's magnetically connected to the body which allows for quick and easy loading. And when in use, it fits pretty tight and doesn’t pop off when you’re inhaling down the vapor. The mouthpiece also has a net inside of it with a detachable ceramic filter that helps prevent getting the herbs into your mouth.
Heating Oven
Yocan Vane has an oval-shaped ceramic oven that uses a conduction heating method. It has a decent bowl size with a smooth surface on top that helps with sliding the herbs easier in the oven. However, don't let this feature carry you away and overpack the bowl. Because if you pack a lot of herbs into this vaporizer, it will clog underneath the ceramic filter and make it hard for you to inhale the vapors.
How To Use
The Yocan Vane is a pretty simple device that has 3 buttons and an OLED screen. Before using it, make sure the Vane is fully charged. To use it you need to:
- Remove the mouthpiece
- Load the oven with herbs, then replace the mouthpiece.
- Turn on the device by pressing the power button five times.
- Use the “+” and “-” button to select the temperature.
- Hold the power button for 2 seconds to start heating.
- Once the heating is done, inhale from the mouthpiece.
Temp Settings: You can precisely set your temperature in single-degree increments from 200°F to 480°F.
Haptic Feedback: The device vibrates when the heating process is done.
Performance & Vapor Quality
Performance
Judging from the AVB (Already Vaped Bud), the herbs were mostly dry and crispy which means that the herbs are thoroughly vaped. It heats up at about 30 seconds so you won't probably wait for a long time to start vaping. The airflow is great and you can inhale the vapor whichever draw technique you prefer.
However, similar to the flaw of some vaporizers and even with high-end vapes like Pax 3 (Review), the Yocan Vane's mouthpiece and unit does get hot after being on for a while. This is a common issue because of its small size making it a bit of a struggle for heat to dissipate properly.
There's no permanent solution for this issue yet but a good technique is not to go beyond 420°F and let the herb heat-up a little bit before you take a draw. In this way, the mouthpiece doesn’t get too hot and you get the most of the vapor.
Battery Performance: As I've mentioned earlier, the Vane has an 1100 mAh battery that's enough to last a few hours of casual vaping. It's quite big for its size and within its price range. Also, it uses a USB-C charger which is much nicer than the micro-USB since it recharges quickly.
Vapor Quality
The vapor produced by Yocan Vane is probably you won't expect from a vape that costs $60. It produces a good amount of vapor but the flavor is not the best. For an inexpensive vaporizer, it gets the job done especially on lower temp settings, but if I were to compare it from mid-tier vaporizers such as the Starry V3 (Review), it barely stands a chance.
Bottom Line
Overall, the Vane is a nice portable vaporizer that costs under $100. It has features like precise temp control and haptic feedback that you don't usually see on vapes in the same category. It's simple, easy-to-use, and produces vapors that are suitable for beginners. However, I don't think it's durable and probably will last for a long time. So, if you're looking for a more advanced vape with superior endurance and stronger firepower, I suggest you look into the Utillian 620 (Review) or the Arizer Solo 2 (Review).
