Background

AirVape Xs Go Review

The Xs Go was released in Mid-2019 by AirVape (Visit Store) as their budget-friendly portable vape after they had much success with the AirVape X (Review). AirVape also recently released a high-end dry herb vape, the AirVape Legacy (Review), that features a gold plated heating chamber and ceramic mouthpiece optimized to provide more flavor in the vapor.

AirVape Xs Go is a compact and sleek dry herb vape with a single-button interface and features a ceramic heating oven that heats up to the desired temperature in less than 30 seconds. It features a hybrid heating method that utilizes both conduction and convection heating, which helped bring out the flavor in the herb. Another notable feature is it has a long battery life and a packing tool that helped with loading/emptying the herb in the oven. All in all, this is the dry herb vape that you can bring wherever you go (pun intended).

Design & Features

AirVape Xs Go Design
The Xs Go features a curvy, ergonomic design with a well-placed power button and a strip of lights that indicate the temperature setting.

The Xs Go is a rectangular-shaped dry herb vape that's ergonomically designed to ensure a firm and comfortable grip while using. At four inches tall and weighing 56 grams, it can disappear in a clenched fist and slips into your pocket/purse. It's lightweight and has a contoured grip that feels good to hold whether you're right or left-handed.

The Xs Go is made from ABS plastic, which has a high resistance to physical impacts and can withstand heavy use. It has a soft rubber grip on its surface, giving it a two-tone finish that adds a splash of aesthetic to the whole device. There's a button on the front that can be used to activate the device and choose a temperature, which is indicated by the vertical strip of horizontal light underneath.

At the back of the device, there's a packing tool hidden in the surface. It's used for scraping out the herbs after the session as well as to help you firmly load the herbs. It's easy to retrieve and replace, which means that there's one less accessory that you have to worry about.

Mouthpiece

AirVape Xs Go

The Xs Go has a triangular-shaped mouthpiece with round edges that fit comfortably on the lips. It's made from plastic and has a ceramic plate underneath to keep the herbs sandwiched and helps with even heating. Even though it has a short vapor path, it can somehow keep the vapor cool during the session compared to some vapes in the same category.

However, the only issue is that the magnets holding the mouthpiece aren't quite effective. It snaps off accidentally in my pocket from time to time, which could be cumbersome sometimes, especially in the dark. This is a minor issue, and they could have prevented it if they use a stronger magnet or put supporting pins as the G-Pen Dash (Review).

Heating Chamber

AirVape Xs Go Heating Chamber

The Xs Go has an oval-shaped ceramic chamber that has a bunch of inlet holes for good airflow. It uses a hybrid heating method, which means as the oven heats up, hot air is trapped in the oven that results in more evenly-cooked herbs. It can load up to 0.25g dried herbs per session and has curved edges, which you can use for scooping the herbs into the oven.

Remember that you must empty the chamber after every session to keep it running in the optimum condition. If you don't, then the chamber gets gunked up with residue, making it more difficult to clean.

How To Use

AirVape Xs Go USB Port

The Xs Go is pretty simple to use since it has a single button to turn on/off the device and switch temperatures. To use it, you need to:

  1. Remove the mouthpiece to expose the heating oven.
  2. Load the herb and then replace the mouthpiece.
  3. Turn on the device by pressing the power button three times.
  4. Hold the power button to cycle through the temperature settings. Once selected, release the power button to start heating.
  5. Wait for the light to turn solid orange.
  6. Inhale from the mouthpiece.

Temperature settings: The horizontal lines represent different temperature levels. Once the light hits your desired temp, you can release the power button to begin heating. The temp settings are as follow: 355°F | 375°F | 390°F | 405°F | 420°F

Auto-Shutoff Feature: When the device is idle for three minutes, it will automatically turn off.

Cleaning and Maintenance: To get more vapor from your weed vape, you need to regularly clean your vape. As for the Xs Go, the parts that you only need to clean is the herb chamber and mouthpiece. For cleaning the herb chamber, you need to use a cleaning brush after every few sessions to prevent any residue from building up. Once every two weeks, use a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol to swab out the oven gently to clean any residues. As for the mouthpiece, submerge it in isopropyl alcohol for 20-30 minutes and rinse it with warm water.

Performance & Vapor Quality

AirVape Xs Go Performance
The Xs Go can produce some dense clouds, but the vapor quality is average, even compared to weed vapes in this price range.

The Xs Go will only take about twenty seconds to heat up, which is surprisingly fast for a small device. The herbs were cashed, and it produces nice and smooth vapor for the first few hits. However, the mouthpiece and the unit did get warm after a few draws, which can be uncomfortable to use. This is a common issue for smaller vapes since the airpath is too short to enable the vapor to cool, and there's no way for the heat to disperse properly.

The vapor's quality is decent for its price but can't compete against high-tier dry herb vapes that cost two or three times more. I got the best flavor between the two lowest temp settings (355-375°F), and vapor may get pretty harsh on the higher temp settings. Also, one good thing about it is the airflow. It has a nice, tight draw that helps cook the herbs efficiently, delivering a more concentrated flavor.

Battery Performance: The Xs Go has a 1200 mAh battery, which could last a day of casual vaping. It uses a micro-USB charger and the charge time is roughly 45 minutes. The micro-USB port is located at the bottom of the device, and if needed, you can use it while charging because it supports pass-thru charging.

Bottom Line

AirVape Xs Go Scraping Tool

After one year of use, I must say the AirVape Xs Go is a suitable choice for beginners looking to buy their first vape without breaking the bank. It's also a good travel vape since it's compact, light, and discreet that can produce flavorful vapor. However, if you're an experienced user looking for the best flavor, this is not for you. I suggest you better opt for better and advanced vapes such as the AirVape X (Review) or Utillian 722 (Review).
