Background
The new Puffco Proxy is an improved version of Puffco’s flagship modular system that separates the mouthpiece from the all-in-one base, allowing it to be used with any compatible glass piece or bubbler. I’ve gone through around 100 sessions with this new version, and in this review I’ll go over its design, features, performance, and how it’s different from the old version.

The New Proxy is available from VGEAR for $250 with free terp pearls, and they also offer discounted bundles which include a hot knife and glass pieces. You can use coupon code VG10 to save 10% on all their devices, but Puffco items are excluded from the coupon.
Design
Right away, you can tell the Proxy doesn’t look like most concentrate devices. It’s not a dab pen, and it’s not an electric dab rig. Instead, it looks like a futuristic take on an old-school Sherlock pipe.
That form factor gives me this instant nostalgic vibe — a mix of timeless charm with a modern twist. It’s like aliens found my grandpa’s pipe and gave it a high-tech upgrade.
The Proxy is made up of two main parts: the glass and the base. Let’s break each of those down.
The Glass
The new Proxy comes with a much better stock glass mouthpiece than the old one. Its shape lets it stand vertically instead of laying flat, so the mouthpiece doesn’t touch the surface anymore — something that always bugged me with the original.
It’s also more ergonomic. It sits nicely in the palm, gives easy access to the joystick cap, and feels way more natural to use one-handed.

Another change: the new glass has a frosted finish, compared to the shiny look of the old version.
Now, the stock glass is just the start. You can swap it out for Puffco’s own pieces like the Wizard, the Terra, or the Bub — which adds water filtration. And there are excellent third-party options too, like the MJ bubbler or rig adapters that let me connect the Proxy to basically any glass rig I own.

The glass is cross-compatible between the old and new Proxy, so building out an ecosystem is absolutely worth it. Over the years I’ve collected a bunch of pieces, and I listed my favorites on the review page — just Google “Vape Guy Proxy” and you’ll find it.

That said, I mostly use my Proxy dry, and honestly, the new stock glass is excellent if you don’t need water filtration.
The Base
The base holds everything: the heating chamber, the electronics, the battery, and the interface. It’s completely independent from the glass. You’ve got the chamber on top, and the airpath hole on the side — that’s where the vapor exits before flowing into the glass.
The chambers on the new Proxy and the old one aren’t cross-compatible. They look similar, but the connections are different.

The new chamber is the same width as the old one, but it’s slightly deeper — and that extra depth makes a real difference. It helps cut down on splashback, which is when tiny droplets sneak into the airpath through the slits at the top.
Usage & app
Using the new Proxy is pretty much the same as other Puffco devices. You load it, hold to unlock, click once to cycle through the four presets, and double-click to start heating.

Once it hits temperature, you can double-click again to activate Boost Mode, which raises the temp and extends the session.
The big upgrade here is Bluetooth. The Proxy now works with the Puffco app — the same one used for the Peak Pro. Through the app, you can update firmware, customize the temperature and duration of each preset, monitor the live chamber temperature, and tweak other device settings.
I’ve tried a lot of app-connected devices — Focus V, Storz & Bickel, you name it — and none of their apps are as smooth as Puffco’s. It connects quickly, stays connected, and just works without glitches.
Once you set your custom presets with your preferred temps and durations, they’re saved to the device itself, so you don’t need the app every time you use it. I’d say that this is the smartest Puffco yet, or actually, the smartest concentrate device yet. It gives you maximal control over absolutely everything. It even has an option to share your “stats” with your friends. Seriously Puffco?! This is not a fitness app.

Feedback comes through both haptics and the LED lightstrip. The strip is invisible when the Proxy’s off, but glows to life once it powers on — giving it this almost “alive” feel. It can light up in a bunch of patterns and colors for endless customization. Each color setting can be attached to a heat setting so it shows automatically during use.
These are all small touches, but they show Puffco’s attention to detail. The whole experience just feels premium and refined.
Performance
When it comes to performance, the Proxy really shines. From the very first hit I was getting satisfying, milky clouds. It feels more powerful and produces thicker vapor, especially when using the app to customize settings for max vapor.
Like all Puffco devices, it uses real-time temperature control. That means it constantly adjusts to keep the chamber at the right temp, preventing overheating and keeping the flavor pure — even toward the end of a session.

Personally, I prefer dry glass over bubblers, and I got the best results with the stock mouthpiece and the Wizard. If you do want to add water, I’d skip the Bub and go with one of the rig adapters instead. They come in straight or 45°, and in both 10mm and 14mm sizes. VGEAR sells them, I’ll link below.
Best Glass Pieces for the Proxy
- Puffco New Wizard ($100)- Best dry piece imo. I love how long it is so it allows the proxy to be away from my face.
- MJ Proxy Bubbler ($70)- My favorite all-in-one bubbler for the Proxy.
- MJ Proxy Adapter ($35)- I use this to connect the Proxy to any bubbler or rig. Available in 10mm, 14mm with straight angle, or 45°.

Drawbacks
Now for drawbacks — and there aren’t many. The Proxy is very much a “what you see is what you get” device.
Battery life is improved over the old version, but it’s still on the short side. The chamber is a bit deeper now, but still small overall. Honestly though, those are trade-offs you expect when you’re designing something this compact and portable, so I don’t see them as deal-breakers.

One thing that does bug me though — the case. The box it ships in doubles as a carry case, which is cool, but it’s huge. There’s just so much wasted space. If I’m taking something out with me, I want the case to be as small as possible, and this one could’ve been half the size.
Bottom line
At $250, the new Proxy is a big win for Puffco. It’s easily one of the best concentrate vaporizers of this year. It’s more streamlined and thought-out than the original, with better battery, a deeper chamber, and superior glass — all while being cheaper.
It has this familiar, approachable design that instantly clicks with people. Everyone I showed it to felt that same connection. And performance-wise, it’s right up there with the Peak, Peak Pro, or the Carta Sport — especially when used dry.

As always, I’ll update this page with a 1,000 sessions review to see how the new Proxy holds up long-term — so make sure to subscribe on YouTube to catch that once it’s out.
